About Club Singapura Los Angeles Southern California
Club Singapura was founded in 1976. It isa non-profit, non-political and non-sectarian organization. Its goal is to promote social interaction between fellow Singaporeans and friends of Singapore through a variety of monthly events. The Club hopes to preserve the Singapore culture and values for future generations.
However, the future generations does not seem too interested.
Possible reasons could be as follows:
Internet (www.ContactSingapore.sg / http://www.overseassingaporean.sg/ Singapore Tourism Board..)
Facebook
Ease of travel to Singapore
Influx of the multitude of Asian Culture & foods to Southern California
Traffic in the Los Angeles basin-members from Ventura/Kern to Orange County
Entertainment/ sporting/ social/ work/ church/ business activites are all
competing for our free time
The lack of knowledge or desire to cook an authentic Singapore meal for a potluck.
The difficulty in finding members to serve as a board director. Reason why 6 former presidents are back on the board.
So the original need for a "culture" club might be coming to a close.
