Annual General Meeting - 2011
Caroline gave a brief summary of the Club’s financial status, handed out 2010 financials and 2012 budget; and outlined the Board’s plan to wind down Club Singapura. The 2012 Budget shows a deficit and at that pace, the Club should wind down in 7 to 8 years.
Some of the reasons to wind down the club are as follows:
Several members offered their views, their fond memories of past events, and why they wanted the Club to continue.
A current director summed up the general sentiment of the Board of directors. He said he still enjoyed organizing events and seeing members enjoy the gatherings. But it’s just so very discouraging when you put in all that work and only 17 showed up (mostly directors and their spouse).
The result of the vote by all members in attendance was to keep the club going. The final consensus was not to wind down the Club, so a knight in shining armor stepped up and announced that he, Richard Chung, would keep the Club going. A new board will be assembled by Richard Chung and put to vote by the membership. He will need your help!!!! so contact him at RChung5410@aol.com. He will put together a team for the members to vote on and this new team will take office starting Jan. 1, 2012.
The final project for the current board will be the Chinese New Year banquet on Jan. 28, 2012.
